MEDIA PLAYER

ANYPLACE MEDIA GROUP HAS INSTALLED THOUSANDS OF MEDIA PLAYERS, AND WILL GUIDE YOU THROUGH THE MINEFIELD OF BRANDS AND FEATURES – ENSURING YOU GET THE BEST VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY..
A media player is a device for storing and displaying still images, video, animation, sound and any other form of digital content.  Not to be confused with software applications for streaming files on a PC, these stand-alone devices have solid-state or active hard drives, enabling files to be accessed and displayed on a screen or display.

In the USA they are often called media engines, and are, in effect, small computers without a screen or keyboard.

Media players can be connected to the internet via WiFi 3/4G or ethernet, enabling new content to be uploaded locally or remotely – across one or many players.
Popular brands of media player include Brightsign, Amino, Intel and Advantech.  When combined with CMS (content management system) software packages, they can hold many hours of digital material, and can be triggered to play on demand or at a set time.

Media players can take numerous forms – anything from a USB stick to something as powerful as a desktop computer.  One player for each display is the norm, except where identical content is required across multiple screens.  The top media players can also be equipped with interfaces for handling various metrics – including RSS feeds for weather and travel information.
